Microscale Wind Assessment, Comparing Mesoscale Information and Observed Wind Data

چکیده
One of the most common problems in wind resource assessment is that measured data are not always available at site interest. That why, several studies, reanalysis have been used as an alternative, which, some cases, validated by data. Mexico no exception, since there many measurement towers country provide valid records throughout country. In view above, this study a comparison was made between measurements observed six anemometric towers, located different locations United Mexican States; from MERRA-2 and ERA-5 reanalysis; generalized climates (GWC), Global Wind Atlas. Improving an Accuracy of ANN-Based Mesoscale-Microscale Coupling Model by Data Categorization: With Application to Wind Forecast for Offshore and Complex Terrain Onshore Wind Farms
The ANN-based mesoscale-microscale coupling model forecasts wind speed and wind direction with high accuracy for wind parks located in complex terrain onshore, yet some weather regimes remains unresolved and forecast of such events failing. The model's generalization improved significantly when categorization information added as an input. The improved model is able to resolve extreme events an...

Although the Mesoscale Community Compressible (MC2) model successfully reproduces the wind climate (for wind energy development purposes) of the Gaspé region, equivalent simulations for the steep mountainous southern Yukon have been unsatisfactory. An important part of the problem lies in the provision of suitable boundary conditions in the lower troposphere. This paper will describe an alterna...
متن کاملWind Energy Resource Assessment Using Wind Atlas and Meteorological Data for the City of Guelph, Canada
Abstract The ability to accurately assess renewable energy resources is an essential prerequisite to integrating renewable energy technologies into the energy supply portfolio of a community. This study investigates the potential for wind energy development in Guelph, a growing mid-size city in Southern Ontario, Canada. Community awareness of energy has led to the development of a Community Ene...
متن کامل4.2 Mesoscale Modeling as a Tool for Wind Resource Assessment and Mapping
The rapid growth of the wind energy industry in the past decade, both in the United States and elsewhere, has led to the development of new techniques for the systematic identification and evaluation of candidate wind project sites. One of those techniques is mesoscale modeling. A familiar tool of weather forecasting, mesoscale modeling offers a number of advantages for wind resource assessment...
